Our Westport cafe is now open seven days a week, 8.30am until 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10.30am until 5.30pm Sundays. About Us

Welcome to Just Baked, an innovative, artisan bakery owned and operated by Brian Campbell and his family in Castlebar and Westport, Co Mayo. A love of baking runs in Brian’s family, and Just Baked is truly a family endeavour, with several members involved in the business. Brian brings a wealth of experience from nine years spent in San Francisco, learning the craft at a German bakery alongside others from many other countries and backgrounds. Moving back to Ireland in 1996, he worked as a manager in bakery and food production, before he and his wife Bernie opened their own wholesale bakery, Just Desserts, in 2003. With limited choice in supermarkets for desserts, they saw an opportunity to provide the Irish market with a much wider range of delicious, high quality products than the typical cheesecakes and puddings. Their wholesale business was a huge success and customers began asking where they could buy their desserts directly, which lead to the idea for a retail shop and Just Baked was born, a sister company to Just Desserts.

As a husband and wife team with a passion for excellent food, taste, innovation and presentation are of the utmost importance for Brian and Bernie, so they take great care crafting recipes that will get taste buds tingling and leave a lasting impression. They use premium ingredients in all of their cakes, breads and other treats so that the end result is delectable and memorable. For special occasion cakes, including birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, communions and much more, they take pride in creating a cake that not only tastes great, but is also a work of art, designed and decorated to fit the occasion. Just Baked is dedicated to providing the best bakery products available as well as a unique and welcoming atmosphere for all our customers at our conveniently located bakery in the centre of Castlebar. We offer friendly, efficient and helpful customer service, whether you are ordering a special cake for an upcoming event or browsing through our wide selection of breads, including soda, spelt and yeast or dairy free options. Our staff will gladly advise you on our full range of products and answer any questions about the ingredients in our breads and other baked goods or special dietary requirements.

We are very proud to be able to call our bakery an Award winning bakery. At the 2010 Irish Food Awards, based in Dingle, Co Kerry, Just Desserts won the Gold award for their Millionaire Shortbread, following up in 2011 to win Bronze for their ever-popular Carrot Cake and Rocky Road. To top it all, Just Baked was delighted when their fresh cream Raspberry Ladyfinger Cake was presented with the Silver award in 2012.  The Irish Food Awards are the biggest blind tasting of their kind, with over 30 food categories, and some of the best Irish products were blind tasted by 60 judges over two sessions in Cork and Kerry. All the competitors are afforded the same opportunity, big or small, because the judges have no idea of where the products come from or which company, so they are free to base their decision on taste alone.

In 2014, we opened a second location in Westport, a Just Baked cafe and coffee shop, serving all of our fresh-baked cakes, cupcakes and other sweet treats, along with hearty artisan sandwiches on a variety of our award-winning breads. The shop is open seven days a week on Bridge Street, only a few doors up from Matt Molloy's pub, so please do drop in the next time you're in Westport! Our opening hours are 8.30am - 6.00pm Monday through Saturday and 10.30am - 5.30pm on Sundays. We can also take orders for custom cakes and other items in the shop, so keep us in mind for upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other special events.
